Stefan Hrafnkelsson, CEO and Managing Director

Stefan Hrafnkelsson founded Betware in 1998. Stefan has previously been the CEO and one of the founders of a company called Margmidlun, an Internet Service Provider which also specialized in software development for e-commerce solutions. Stefan worked as a computer programmer at Microsoft, as well as a teacher in graphical user interface (GUI) and network programming at the Reykjavik University. He holds a BSc. in Computer Science from the University of Iceland and an MSc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington, USA.

Olafur Andri Ragnarsson, Chief Software Architect

Olafur Andri Ragnarsson started Betware along with Stefan Hrafnkelsson. Olafur Andri is at present the Chief Software Architect at Betware with a particular interest in sports betting. From 1987 to 1990, and again 1993-1997, he worked as an operator for the Icelandic Soccer Pools, at Islenskar Getraunir. Prior to that, he was the Development Manager at Margmidlun. Olafur Andri serves as a faculty member at the University of Reykjavik, teaching a course on designing and building Internet Applications. He has a BSc. and an MSc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Oregon, USA.

Rakel Sigurdardottir, Quality Assurance Manager

Rakel has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Reykjavik University. Rakel joined Betware after graduation in 2000. She has previously worked at Betware as a programmer and as the Project Manager for Betware’s Canadian client The British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

Heidar Karlsson, Operational Manager

Heidar has a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Idnskolinn in Reykjavik. Additionally he also holds several certifications in Project Management. Heidar has worked in the IT industry for ten years starting as a Customer Service Representative with a software retailer in Reykjavik called BT. He was also a Customer Service Representative with Icelandic IT support company Tæknival and with Icelandair.

He then went on to join TM Software – a software, hardware and consulting services support company. At TM Software Heidar acted as an IT Services and Project Manager along with being the Chief Security Officer.

Wojtek Bachorski, Sales and Marketing Director

Wojtek has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Kendall College, Chicago, USA from which he graduated in 2003. He started as a System Supporter at Wood System Integrator Inc. in his native Poland and then proceeded to work as an International Advisor/Counselor at Kendall College where he took care of all the international affairs.

Before joining Betware, Wojtek was also employed as a General Manager at M.U.C Construction in Irvine, CA where he negotiated new client contracts and supervised teams of employees amongst other duties.

Ivar Hermann Unnthorsson, Senior Project Manager and Integration Manager

Ivar has a Diploma in Applied Computing and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Reykjavik University. Ivar has a seven year working experience in the Information Technology industry. He has previously worked as a Software Developer for mobile solutions at Gagarin, an Icelandic company dealing in multimedia software solutions. He continued to work as a Software Developer for the company when it merged with Trackwell, an Icelandic company concentrating on location based solutions, until he joined Betware in 2001 as Software developer.

Steindor Gudmundsson, Core Manager

Steindor has a Diploma in Applied Computing and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Reykjavik University. Steindor has fourteen years of experience working in the computer industry. He started in 1994 as a computer programmer with Margmidlun - an Internet Service Provider with a focus on e-commerce solutions. He has been working with Betware since its inception in 1996 where he started as a Systems Architect and Programmer.

He has been involved in all past projects both external and internal and is involved in all current projects with Betware customers.

Helena Hallgrimsson, Finance and Human Resources Manager 

Helena holds a Master of Science in Finance and International Business from the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark. She also holds a Candidatus/a economiae (Cand.oecon.) in Business Administration with a focus on management (four year course). Helena has previously worked as a Consultant in the Finance department of the University Hospital in Reykjavik where she was in charge of bookkeeping, grant payments, cost analysis and report writing. She then went on to work for Global Refund (Iceland) – the international company which settles tourists’ VAT tax returns. She served there as Finance and Refund Manager for five years before going on to study for a Masters degree.
