Betware, together with leading Icelandic companies, has founded IGI – Icelandic Gaming Industry.
The organization is a formal part of the Iceland Association of industries and is committed to support the growing gaming industry in Iceland. Members of the Association already employ over 500 professionals..
Among companies involved are: Betware – gaming software provider lottery and multiplayer games developer, CCP – maker of the popular EVE Online, Gogogic, a developer of casual multiplayer games available both on the internet and iPhone and Mind Games, a company pulling neuroscience into games.
Shared revenue is expected to exceed 10 billion ISK in 2009. More companies have expressed interest in the organization, thus creating dozens of job opportunities.
Also participating in the organization is Reykjavik University with its CADIA research center for artificial intelligence. To keep up with this fast growing trend and support the industry, the university now offers courses on game development or design, artificial intelligence and computer graphics.
